Project 1: Stationery (Pattern)
The goal of this project is to utilize typography and grid systems to create cohesive, compelling patterns. By manipulating and overemphasizing letterforms, they can create unique shapes that allow for a variety of possibilities in creating a remarkable design. Alongside the exploration of form and repetition in letterforms, employing elements like systematic grid systems and color schemes to further produce a dynamic motif. Ultimately to create a distinct and expressive pattern of the typography that can be used in a variety of contexts.
Project 2: Poster (Typographic Manipulation)
The goal of this project is to utilize various techniques and methods to manipulate text and create a compelling design. By using approaches such as slicing, overlapping, counter, etc. on the text, the motivational quote or phrase can be modified in unique and dynamic ways that properly convey the feeling of the message. Implementing subtext also allows for an establishment of harmony and balance throughout the design without having the entire phrase utilizing the manipulation tactics. Employing color into the design and experimenting with different palettes further pushes the connotations of the quote and helps create a visual that matches the tone of the overall piece. Then to finally apply our typographic posters in a digital mockup to help visualize how the composition withstands in a variety of contexts.
Project 3: Poster (Type)
The goal of this project is to utilize various typographic techniques in order to create a unique, compelling poster that coincides with the event chosen. By using methods such as creating hierarchy, visual punctuation and a focal point for the title help aid the design further by making the poster eye-catching and captivating to read. Implementing photography that helps determine how the text will be placed and in what ways an interesting form of hierarchy can be produced. Using color on the text to create harmony and intrigue between the type and photo. Then to finally print the poster at full scale in order to determine the successfulness of the design.
